We officially became a Chapter of Friends of Sarasota County Parks in December 2018 so 2019 was our first full year of operating as Friends of Osprey Junction Trailhead, an all-volunteer organization. We continue to develop the Pedicab Ride Program in partnership with County Parks with a proposed start date in January. The pedicab is powered by a 21-speed bicycle and can hold two passengers. We are now looking for volunteers interested in pedaling the bicycle so people can enjoy a 45-minute ride on The Legacy Trail.

Volunteer and Leadership Team member Dave Zimmerman developed the plans used to get the County permit for the job and also provided specifications for contractors doing the work. This helped reduce costs for County Parks. Another step closer to being able to open the Visitor Center!
Volunteers Beverly Bowen and Bette Keys added a unique education experience to our April 6 garage sale with a butterfly information table. They provided information about butterflies and their importance to our world and promoted the soon to be butterfly garden at the park that will be installed and maintained by FOJT volunteers.
