Friends of Osprey Junction Trailhead has a goal to use, showcase and educate the public about Sarasota County sustainability programs. Sustainability means different things to different people. Sarasota County defines sustainability to mean stewardship of all our resources in such a way that we can meet basic human needs for a quality place to live today and leave a legacy of enhancement for future generations. Areas of focus include:

• Use energy efficiently and seek renewable energy
• Conserve and prevent pollution of water resources
• Reduce, reuse and recycle
• Encourage smart transportation
• Support green design and construction
